Polinizapp is an educational game offered by the RoyalBotanicGarden of Madrid and the IMEDEA (Mediterranean InstituteforAdvanced Studies) and funded by the FECYT. The game simulatesthepollination process of flowers in nature. The player becomesapollinating insect with two objectives: to get life andtoaccumulate points. Life is produced by contact with theflowers,since they have pollen and nectar, sources of their food.Lifebecomes playing time. Points are earned only by contactwithflowers belonging to their "target species". To generate 1point,the insect has to contact at least 2 target flowers of thesamespecies. At the end of the game, these points will becomeseeds,since the fertilization of the gametes of the plant will havebeenperformed in the process. When the player downloads the app,thehoney bee is the only choice for playing. The otherpollinatinginsects are locked and then will be unlocked as theplayer earnspoints (seeds) and food units. The player can chooseamongdifferent game scenarios, where there will bedifferentavailability of food and other threats that the playerwill have tosolve. These threats can weaken the player and evencause the deathand the end of the game. The pollination in natureworks in thisway.
